Fundraising
December 15th, 2009
Every year we organise several fundraisers. From the Sausage Sizzle, we donated this year a $1000 to the Monto State School and another $250 to the local wild life carer. The Anzac biscuits being sold on our park by our staff member Stuart McInnes totalled $370 for the victims of the bush fires. At the end of last financial year, we donated a certain percentage of your stay to the Imani Childrens Home in Nairobi (Kenya) to help them build a self sufficient business.
Fire on 27 June 2008 !!
February 28th, 2009
As you can see, it has been while since we added any news. Reason for that is, we had a fire on the night of 27th June 2008. It destroyed our shop, office and residence (and part of our lifes). Luckely nobody got hurt, but it has been a very big blow. It took a while to get the insurance organised and the builders in, but the office, shop and residence are now ready. We have to thank (again) the Monto community and all our friends, who kept us going. Without them, we couldn’t have made it. A special thanks to Ron and Jenni our relief managers (our Ozzie mum and dad), who came in short after the fire and stayed for 1/2 a year to get us back on track again! Everything is up and running again and we hope to get our wireless internet back shortly.
We are ready again to welcome you for the new busy winter season. Thanks for all the mails/letters and support over the last half year.
