Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat opened for business on 1st January 2002 and is a small family run business. We (Gerard & Margaret and their daughters Okki en Jette Klijn) arrived from the Netherlands in 2005 and took over the business on 13 July 2006. We travelled a lot ourselves and always wanted to run a caravan park, where we could meet travellers from all over the world.
The retreat is renowned for it’s unique location and friendly atmosphere. There is always time for a chat and we do our best to make your stay a pleasant one.
We are continuously upgrading the park. Not to grow bigger, but to turn it into a small and eco-friendly park, where you can enjoy nature at it’s best. Being at the entrance of the National Park fits this idea perfectly. We are very proud of our park and care for it accordingly.
We consider ourselves very lucky to live in a country like Australia and we like to share our great fortune with others. That’s why we donate a percentage of our park’s turnover to the Imani Childrens Home in Nairobi (Kenya) every year. Through our donation, we help them build a self sufficient business. Locally we support the State School and other smaller organisations by organising a Sausage Sizzle in wintertime.
