The Anzac biscuits being sold on our park by our staff member Stuart McInnes totalled $370 for the victims of the bush fires. At the end of last financial year, we donated a certain percentage of your stay to the Imani Childrens Home in Nairobi (Kenya) to help them build a self sufficient business.

As you can see, it has been while since we added any news. Reason for that is, we had a fire on the night of 27th June 2008. It destroyed our shop, office and residence (and part of our lifes). Luckely nobody got hurt, but it has been a very big blow. It took a while to get the insurance organised and the builders in, but the office, shop and residence are now ready. We have to thank (again) the Monto community and all our friends, who kept us going. Without them, we couldn’t have made it. A special thanks to Ron and Jenni our relief managers (our Ozzie mum and dad), who came in short after the fire and stayed for 1/2 a year to get us back on track again! Everything is up and running again and we hope to get our wireless internet back shortly.

We are ready again to welcome you for the new busy winter season. Thanks for all the mails/letters and support over the last half year.

To get the Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat more eco friendly we had to have more watertanks. We ordered them 9 months ago and now they finally arrived. Two 2000 gallon tanks for the shop and the Kangaroo cabin and one 5000 gallon tank for the three other cabins. Now it’s up to us to get the rebate; the Government excluded caravan parks! Very unfair, but we’ll see what we can do. Hopefully we get the wet winter they are talking about !!
